Music
New Wave Feminist Theme Song
Given that it was September which means Virgo Season, and unfortunately Virgo M*n season (imagine me vomiting), this song goes out to all the ladies who have a Virgo M*n in their life.
Nintendo Core
THESE SOUNDS!! Like I’m sorry it’s giving Super Mario Sunshine in all the best ways possible.
Mongolian Queen
Wow! First off, Mongolian is a beautiful language. This song is such a beautiful fusion of Jazz and Blues with what sounds like a Latin influence. I’m gonna be listening to more of her music in the next couple of weeks. Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s back for the October Queue.
This is for E-Boys
He sounds like a mix of Kanii and Drake and Majid Jordan, which mean it obviously hits. Been listening to this anytime I’m driving at night, great speeding on the highway at 2am song.
You like Jazz pt 2
Jazz is life, Jazz is forever!! When this is on I’m summering on the coast of Italy and popping over to Spain to dance the night away at a dive bar. If you can listen to this without dancing then you’re either a sociopath or a wh*te American (so basically still a sociopath)
Books
Read this please!!! I will beg if I have to. Pretty please read this book, it is sooooooo good. I love Asian Fantasy books, I love an epic, I love queer stories, I love interesting characters. I love stories set in an post-classical era. Just read the synopsis of the book and you’ll be hooked I promise. I read this in one sitting cause I could not put it down (but i read every book in one sitting).
Looking for either your first or next afro-futurist book? Well look no further. AO (the main character) is a cybernetic woman who is seen as less than in society and has to fight for her life after an incident occurs in a marketplace. This book has some commentary about what it means to be physically disabled in society and the stigma surrounding Prosthetics. As a non-disabled person, this book’s commentary was interesting to me, but it might be kind of surface level for anyone who is disabled. Overall a fun read and a great addition to the Afro-futurist genre.
Art
Found this at the Atlanta Contemporary museum and was like “mood.” I have felt trapped and suffocated by the boxes either I put myself in or the world puts me in and this artist did a great job visualizing that feeling. I especially enjoyed this because of the way they used the canvas to create the space the person is within. Super cool and y’all should check out the Atlanta Contemporary Museum, it’s free admission all the time.
Hadn’t seen a tickle me Elmo in a long ass time and upon seeing one I couldn’t believe this was ever sold. I’m sorry, not to kink shame, but Elmo has a tickle kink??? Freak! Why were we letting kids play with this toy? I wonder how this affected 90’s and 00’s babies. Did y’all play with this thing? Cause I certainly did NOT (that’s on growing up black)
Videos
The ONLY things y’all need to be doing is watching this movie. Bottoms (2023) is one of the greatest and funniest comedy films of our generation. Instant classic, no one is doing it like this. Queer people + satire, what more do you want????
If you don’t watch Bottoms (2023) then you are either homophobic or misogynistic
In fact, fuck the other videos I was gonna suggest. You LITERALLY don’t need to watch anything but Bottoms (2023). So go head and watch it…. I’ll wait
Items
NEED I SAY MORE THAN JUST POSTING THE PICTURE?????
Manifesting this watch for myself. One day when I’m rich for doing god knows what, this what will be mine.
