Music

Best Jazz album of the year

This album is a perfect mix of beautiful sounds and odd pairings that jazz is known for with an indie tik tok spin. Perfect dinner party music and laying under a shady tree music.

The album cover for this song says a lot. A sort of airiness, ethereal feeling with a clear dance influence, but very much indie and experimental.

Following this trend of beautiful sounds, here’s a song with a lazy summer vibe. When it’s too hot to do much but a lay around - either at the beach or at home. Perfect for right now as we move into the end of summer.

To switch it up completely, this song makes me feel like a slut. Shirt off in the club, flirting, knowing I’m going home with someone. Listen at your own discretion cause you might feel yourself a little too hard.

Books

Feel short of its potential

This book had so much potential: interesting idea, great cover, and just enough of air of mystery. But goddamn was the ending terrible. No closure, no answers, and no set up for a sequel. Just the most boring ending possible for a book that I was hooked on. This does not fall into best stuff I read in August, but I need to make sure none of you fall victim to this book. Unless you’re a masochist, in which case this book is for you.

Black main character in a fantasy book?! Sign me up. This book delivered on every front. Great story, awesome magic system, fantastic characters. Plus it’s set in the 1930’s in America so it features that old school racism <3 I couldn’t put the book down once I picked it up. If she doesn’t continue release a sequel I will be devestated.
